Widely known Russian filmmaker Pavel Lungin has told that did not feel at the moment any kind of pressure from above. These words Lungin meant censorship, which in Russia are beginning to talk increasingly, as representatives of the cultural community and ordinary citizens. According to some, in recent years, censorship began to return. The Director stated that, apparently, censorship as such was «delegated down». For this reason, censorship can be for people of cultural threat as never before.
Pavel Lungin lamented the fact that in recent years, Russia appears more and more activists are expressing «opinion». He pointed to the fact that often no one knows, nor who these people are or who they really represent. No, not their faces, not names, but there are some opinions expressed by these same activists are increasingly in openly rude and even dangerous form.
This environment, says the Director overwhelms the artist. It is not excluded that very soon (if the situation does not change), a creative person will work with serious caution, as nobody wants to attract such attention from the indignant public. The Director also complained that people are too easy to wind up on any sense of protest, insults and hatred. In his opinion, such censorship is the most dangerous and aggressive.
We will remind that Pavel Lungin has created such films as «the Island», «Taxi Blues», «Moon-Park», «Oligarch» and «Wedding». His last work was the Russian version of series «homeland» and the recently released film «the Queen of Spades». Not long ago, the Director announced the idea of creating a film devoted to correctional labor camps of the Gulag. For his film «Taxi Blues» in 1990 Lungin won the best Director award at the Cannes film festival.
